    A CALL TO WRITERS - The Cultural Division has collaborated this year with the Goldring Arts Journalism Program at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and with the Janklow Arts Leadership Program, to design and deliver a repertoire of arts journalism training programs for the area's content providers, bloggers, professional broadcasters, media journalists and writers who post arts-related story content. The program is supported, in part, by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Cultural Division will host a small series of application workshops to invite area writers to learn how to apply.

This arts journalism initiative will also include expansion of the Broward Cultural Division's online magazine; Cultural Quarterly, and the development of new content for its ArtsCalendar.com website. This is an invitation to you to participate. The application process is now open for you to apply to be considered, and competitively selected and engaged (hired), to provide new content for the Cultural Division.     Creative Investment Program Application Workshop for Artists

    Broward Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a workshop the Creative Investment Program for Artists. The purpose of the Creative Investment Program is to assist eligible Broward-based practicing professional artists to fund small but complete, cultural projects in Broward County, for which applicants have not received funding through any other Cultural Division program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity.
    Individual Broward-based practicing professional artists, eighteen (18) years or older, residing in Broward County, who have lived continuously in Broward County for the immediate twelve consecutive months prior to the filing date of application, may apply. The program supports eligible artists who have created a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline over a sustained period of time, and pursue this work as a means of livelihood and/ or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition. Broward-based artists should demonstrate a history of professional artistic work during the past year, and the ability to create a strong artistic project and deliver the project at a public venue. Funds will be available on a non-matching basis for the use of the award recipient to support a project. An individual Broward-based artist may apply for up to $2,000 per award on a funds available basis. An individual artist may apply for one (1) Creative Investment award per fiscal year and shall not receive in excess of $2,000 in Creative Investment funding during any County fiscal year.

    Creative Investment Program Application Workshop (Not for Profit Organizations)

    Broward Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a workshop for the Creative Investment Program for Not for Profit Organizations.The purpose of the Creative Investment Program is to assist eligible Broward County not-for-profit cultural organizations with annual operating revenues of less than $100,000, to fund small cultural projects for which applicants have not received funding through any other Cultural Division program.
    The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity. The workshops will also cover how to submit an online application.Organizations must be registered with the Florida Secretary of State as a cultural, not-for-profit corporation. They must have operated in their discipline(s) in Broward County for a minimum of one uninterrupted year following incorporation; and must have provided services in Broward County for a minimum of six months following the date of incorporation.

Business Plan Clinic & Workshop - June 27, 2015

    Broward Cultural Division, the Florida Small Business Development Center in Broward, the South Florida Regional Planning Council and ArtServe will offer an informational business plan clinic and workshop to assist artists and creative entrepreneurs.

    The Business Plan Clinic guides participants through preparation of a simple business plan, an essential tool for any artist. In addition, participants will learn how to effectively work with lenders to obtain financial support. The workshop will be facilitated by George Gadson and Rafael Cruz both with the Small Business Development Center and Cheryl Cook, economic development specialist with the South Florida Regional Planning Council.Participants will have the opportunity to network with past alumni of the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute.
